A Fort Worth artist, notable for her sculpture and installation, Helen Altman is also equally accomplished in creating two-dimensional imagery, such as her well known torch drawings which emphasize the delicate balance of nature through various domestic and wild animals that occupy her work space. The work of Helen Altman always promises to transform ordinary objects and materials into extraordinary works of art.

Helen Altman uses images of nature in very unnatural ways to challenge the viewer to consider the benefit and beauty of the world. Altman's work is in numerous established collections such as the Dallas Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. She has been the recipient of awards including the prestigious Engelhard Award and a National Endowment for the Arts grant.
